Re-Orbited, 2020

Year: 2020

“Re-Orbited” is an orbital ring containing both current and future space debris, such as: commercials signs, satellites, rocket bodies, coca cola cans, bill boards, junk from space tourism etc. Our orbital highways in lower orbit are already polluted with more than 23,000 pieces of debris larger than 10 cm in diameter and hundreds of millions that are smaller. With up to tens of thousands of satellites launching in the coming years, these pieces of debris endanger a flourishing ecosystem in space. My intention with this work of art is to question the ethics of our behavior and policies on the removal of debris in orbit.
